Secret Sister

We want to do Secret Sisters this year. Please sign up on the hallway bulletin board if you would like to be involved. We would like this to be an opportunity to encourage one another and to be uplifting, not a burden. It's a chance to show someone secretly how much you appreciate them, to pray for them and to send them cards and notes to encourage them. Occasionally give them gifts, but try to keep it under $5.00.

Please be a part of this ministry to encourage your sisters.

Thanks.

Ladies Bible Study

We are going to begin a new Ladies Bible Study. It will be on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00. Susan Abramson is going to start us out by doing a series of lessons on "Stress". Could we all use a few pointers on dealing with that!?!?! Everyone is welcome to come and participate.

We will start on January 14th and meet every other week. So most months we will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.

Bring your Bible, a notebook if possible and your thoughts on how to deal with stress. I know Susan is going to start us off in a great way.

Hopefully we'll see you there!

The End of 2008

Tomorrow is the last day of 2008. It's hard to believe. Doesn't seem like that long ago we were celebrating the start of the new year and we're about to celebrate another new year. We have some exciting things planned for 2009. See the next 2 posts!!

Happy New Year to all my sisters in Christ!

Only 7 days!

Sorry I haven't been posted anything in a while. I've been under the weather, but definitely feeling better now.

I hope everyone is ready for a blessed week. So many things can distract us from what's really important. Something happened to me this week that really upset me, but when I think about God's love for me and the beautiful gifts he has given me, I can't help but put it all into perspective. His love for us is so amazing! He gave His one and only Son to be our lamb. I heard a song this week called "Lamb of God". I love the image that brings to mind. Jesus truly is the Lamb of God.

A few weeks ago I had mentioned the passage in Luke 2. I like verse 19 that says Mary treasured these things in her heart. The Message puts it this way: "Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself." She held them dear, they were precious to her. Let's keep our love for God and each other precious and dear, but let's also show the world what He's done for us and what He can do for them.

To all my sisters: Have a blessed and beautiful Christmas!

LFC Christmas Party

LFC Christmas Party

Here are our "Ugly Christmas Sweater" Contest winners. Sally won 1st place and Linda won 2nd place. We had so many interesting sweaters, it was hard to choose who had the ugliest.
We had such a good time. We played a few games and talked about Christmas memories and what we would like to have for Christmas this year. We laughed a lot. Susan shared with us a few thoughts about being "wise" instead of asking a lot of "why's". See her if you want to know more.
Thank you Susan for opening your home to us. We had a great time and we're looking forward to next year.

The Christmas Season is upon us!

It's here! Yes, that glorious time of year. Patti mentions in the newsletter this week that if you are feeling a little stressed out because of all the things you have to do, then just read Luke 2:1-20. It's the story of the birth of our Lord. How can you read this and not be able to re-focus on the true meaning of Christmas?

My favorite part is verse 11 where it says: "Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." It makes me want to sing God's praises just like the angels did.

Let's not forget the reason for the season!

Next time: Mary's treasure.
